The tale of Mumbai’s vanishing dustbins is not something one would waste time discussing.

The BMC move to install metal dustbins in the city were being filched or their tops and bottoms stolen and sold for scrap.

So much so, that the metal dustbins have been replaced with green, plastic dustbins.While we applaud those who wait to throw their rubbish into bins and do not chuck it on the roads, sometimes though, Mumbai’s enterprising spirit goes too far.

A letter box has been used as a dustbin, near Ruia College, Matunga. Tch. Tch.

While letters may be ‘outdated’ thanks to email, a post box deserves more respect than this.
